Philanthropist filly impresses at Kenilworth

Drakenstein Stud’s exciting young sire Philanthropist had an impressive winner at Kenilworth on Wednesday.
The chestnut son of Kris S is the sire of leading G1 World Sports Betting Cape Fillies Guineas hopeful Sail, who scored an emphatic win over G1 Allan Robertson Fillies Championship winner The Secret Is Out on Wednesday.
Trained by Dennis Drier for owner-breeder Drakenstein Stud, Sail had been an unlucky loser of the G2 Choice Carriers Fillies Championship on her previous outing –and Wednesday’s win confirmed that this Philanthropist filly will be a hard nut to crack in the Cape Fillies Guineas.

Sail, one of the top 2yo fillies around last season, has now won three of her seven outings and has already banked over R370 000 in prize money.

Her sire Philanthropist, whose first South African crop also include brilliant G3 HSH Princess Charlene Of Monaco Stakes winner and fellow Fillies Guineas hope She’s A Giver, and G2 Dingaans runner Singapore Sling.

The latter, who won by nearly six lengths first time out, was a good third in the recent G3 Graham Beck Stakes and is yet another promising talent to have emerged from Philanthropist’s sensational first SA crop.

A former Leading Sire in North America (despite being represented by small numbers of runners), Philanthropist has five lots on next week’s CTS Johannesburg Ready To Run Sale:
