Querari half sister shines in USA

Quidura, a half sister to Maine Chance Farms’ top class young sire Querari, impressed when landing the G3 Pin Oak Valley View Stakes at Keeneland on Friday.

The daughter of Dubawi, who hails from the red hot Graham Motion yard, is now undefeated in two starts since arriving in North America and looks to have a great career ahead of her.

A lightly raced filly, who has won three of just four outings, Quidura was sent off a 7-2 chance for Friday’s race and duly arrived in impressive style!

Ridden by Junior Alvarado, the lightly raced three-year-old ran on strongly to record a one and a quarter length win from the late flying Linda to record her first graded stakes victory. G3 Commonwealth Oaks winner My Impression was another two lengths back in third position.

“She was very impressive the first time we ran her. She really won for fun at Belmont,”  winning trainer Graham Motion said. “I know they had high hopes for her in Europe and then she bled in one of her races. It made sense to bring her over here. I’m just fortunate to be on the right end of having a nice horse sent over.”

Quidura, who will be kept in training next year, is a half sister to two former champions –Querari (Oasis Dream) and former G3 Bavarian Classic hero Quasillo (Sea The Stars).

Quetena, dam of Querari and Quidura, is a stakes placed daughter of champion, and German 1000 Guineas winner Quebrada –whose own dam, Queen To Conquer, won eight times including the G1 Yellow Ribbon Stakes.

One of South Africa’s most exciting young sires, Querari’s first crop includes triple Graded winner and G1 hope Kangaroo Jack, G2 winning 2yo Cosmic Light and the G1 filly Melliflora while his second crop includes G1 Thekwini Stakes heroine Querari Falcon.

Understandably, Querari’s growing success at stud has seen him enjoy increasing success at sales rings around South Africa. A colt by him fetched R900 000 at this year’s Cape Premier Yearling Sale, while a Querari filly made R550 000 at the 2016 National 2YO Sale.

The G1 winning son of champion sprinter Oasis Dream (also sire of red hot young sire Power) has three lots on offer at next month’s Emperors Palace Ready To Run Sale:

Lot 30 – a half sister to 4 winners, including stakes winning filly Feel My Love, this filly is out of a Danehill half sister to champion 2yo Basim and this is the family of legendary South African broodmare Mystic Spring and 2000 Guineas winner Mystiko

Lot 180 – out of a winning daughter of top class British sire Medicean, this colt is from the top class family of classic winner Indian Haven, leading SA sire Count Dubois and the champion siblings Kris and Diesis –both of whom enjoyed successful stud careers

Lot 184 – a half brother to 3 winners, including the very useful Silva Hawk, this colt is out of a Jallad half sister to G1 performer Rudi Rocks and his second dam is former G3 Final Fling Stakes winner Rosey Rapids
