Rain wins for Judpot

Varsfontein Stud’s successful sire Judpot had a smart debut winner at Turffontein on Saturday when his daughter The Smell Of Rain won first time out.
Backed down to start a 7-2 chance, the 3yo ran on strongly to defeat Goldkeeper first timer Shine Brightly by a length and a half.

Out of a daughter of Up And At’Em, The Smell Of Rain looks well above average judged on her easy first out success over 1160m, and she looks on track for a bright future.
The Smell Of Rain is just one of several promising sophomores representing Judpot this season, with others including Fillies’ Mile third Juxtapose (a nominee for the upcoming G3 Three Troikas Stakes) and the very talented Rocketball, a winner or placed in nine of 11 outings and a good third in the Listed Sea Cottage Stakes.

To date, Judpot’s current 3yo crop has yield 19 winners and three stakes horses.

An A P Indy half brother to recently deceased sire sensation Kingmambo, Judpot made an excellent start to his stud career, with his first crop producing no fewer than eight stakes horses, and two G1 winners.

The son of Miesque has seven yearlings on offer at the upcoming Val De Vie Yearling Sale –
