Seattle dominates Nursery
Ascot Stud’s resident stallion, Sail From Seattle, has made an exceptional start to his stud career with his first 2yos this season.
The stallion had his first stakes winner on Friday when Seattle Storm won the Listed East Cape Nursery, to take his score to two wins from three starts.

Third home in the Nursery was another son of Sail From Seattle – Sahvara, with the beaten favourite, Sail From Seattle colt Navistar, back in fourth. Thus, the first season sire had the 1-3-4 finish in this R130 000 feature!

On the same card, Sail From Seattle colt, Reigning Wind, made a promising debut to run third.

Sail From Seattle, whose first yearlings sold for up to R1 000 000, has now been represented by three winners – and three black type performers from his first crop of runners thus far.  A filly by the sire, Miss Seattle, ran fourth in the recent Gr3 Pretty Polly Stakes.

A son of Gone West, Sail From Seattle showed tremendous promise as a racehorse. In a brief career, he won four times, including the Mt Sassafras Stakes.

A half-brother to ill-fated champion Hello Seattle, Sail From Seattle’s dam is a half-sister to champion Dance Smartly, leading US sire Smart Strike and top SA sire Strike Smartly.

His registered stud fee for 2012 was R15,000.
