Gunner, who is trained by Paul Gadsby, was backed down from 16-1 to 8-1 and duly obliged , winning a maiden juvenile plate over 1000m in smart style.

He is the second winner for his G1 winning sire, whose son Skip The Red won smartly over 1000m before finishing second in the Sentinel Stakes. Another son of Gimmethegreenlight, Pepe Le Pew has been nominated to the R1 000 000 G1 SA Nursery.
To date, Gimmethegreenlight has had five first crop runners either win or finish in the money –and this tally looks sure to increase sooner rather than later!

One of over 150 stakes winners sired by G1 King’s Bishop Stakes winner More Than Ready (sire of sire sensation Sebring and the promising young Australian sire Pluck), Gimmethegreenlight was himself an outstanding racehorse at both two and three.

A half brother to G1 Coolmore Classic heroine Ofcourseican, Gimmethegreenlight reeled off four consecutive wins at two (including the Listed Somerset 1200) and was unluckily beaten in two Grade Ones as a juvenile.
The handsome colt proved himself among the best of his generation when accounting for dual Horse Of The Year Variety Club, at three, in the G1 L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate and was beaten 1.25 lengths, by another Horse Of The Year –Igugu, in the G1 J&B Met over 2000m.
