Second winner for Pathfork

Highlands Farm’s exciting young sire Pathfork has made the perfect start to his stud career, and the champion son of Distorted Humor was represented by yet another impressive winner at Kenilworth on Saturday.

Trainer Glen Kotzen is a huge Pathfork fan, and, having sent out the young sire’s first winner in the form of Corker, sent out yet another impressive Pathfork filly, South Side, to win on debut on Saturday.
The Boland Stud bred South Side outgunned some highly regarded and well bred 2yo fillies when landing the odds in a maiden juvenile plate over 1000m, and she looks more than useful.

Pathfork’s first winner, and South Side’s stablemate, Corker, has been entered in the Listed East Cape Nursery, to be run at Fairview on March 25th.

Irish Champion 2YO Colt of 2010, and an unbeaten G1 winner at two, the blue blooded Pathfork has plenty going for him as a stallion.

Redoute's Choice

Redoute’s Choice

Not only was he a top class performer, but Pathfork has an exceptional pedigree to back it up. He is one of 17 G1 winners sired by former US champion sire Distorted Humor (whose son Any Given Saturday is the sire of 2015 G1 Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint hero Mongolian Saturday).

Pathfork, himself a half brother to ill-fated stakes winner Tacticus, is out of a stakes winning Sadler’s Wells half sister to G1 Irish 2000 Guineas/G1 Breeders’ Cup Mile winner Spinning World and from the family of top sires El Gran Senor, Northern Guest, Redoute’s Choice and Try My Best.

Pathfork has four lots on offer at this weekend’s March Yearling Sale, set to take place at Durbanville racecourse on March 19th and 20th. His draft includes a filly whose dam is a half sister to G3 winner Master Of Note (Lot 121), and a filly whose dam, by Derby winner and classic sire and broodmare sire Sinndar, is a half sister to Irish champion Livadiya (Lot 188).

The sire also has nine lots on sale at next month’s National Yearling Sale, and these include a colt out of a daughter of top class 2yo filly Easyjadeasy (Lot 76), a filly whose dam is a half sister to G1 Empress Club Stakes winner Fair Maiden (Lot 89), a filly out of a five time stakes winner by Fort Wood (Lot 132), a half sister to stakes winning filly Silver Holly (Lot 133), and a filly out of a five time stakes winning daughter of a G2 Merchants winner (Lot 344).
