Seul Amour brother scores in Hong Kong
Sichuan Exec, a half-brother to the Cape sire Seul Amour, is doing well in Hong Kong at the moment.
The 4yo gelding scored his fourth win from just 10 starts when he won the HK$1,000,000 Grand Delight Handicap at Sha Tin this past weekend.
Trained by John Size and ridden by leading jockey Joe Moreira, Sichuan Exec bounced from a wide draw and led comfortably before taking a “sit” in the middle stages; the big bay bounded clear when they straightened and kept up a good gallop to hold out the favourite Big Four.
The family continue to get better as they get older and Sichuan Exec looks a horse with well above ability.
He is a half-brother to two stakes winners – including the Vanree based stallion, Seul Amour. The pair are out of exceptional racemare, Grand Archway – Champion 3YO In Australia in 1998-1998. A daughter of top sprinter Archway, Grand Archway won nine races, including four at G1 level. Her victories included scores in the G1 C F Orr Stakes (against colts), and scores in both the G1 Victoria Oaks and G1 Australian Oaks. Grand Archway won, in total, over AUS$1.7 million in prize money.
Grand Archway has a 3YO full sister to Sichuan Exec with Peter Moody, a yearling colt by Bernardini, and is in foal to the exciting young sire Makfi.
Seul Amour, by Champion Sire Zabeel, was a well above average performer himself. This exceptionally well bred horse (a full-brother to G3W Stand Tall) won six times, from 1400-2100m, and won the Sky High Stakes. He was also second in the G3 Kingston Town Stakes.
From limited opportunities, Seul Amour has done well at stud in South Africa. His first small crop, of just ten runners, has produced six horses to win or finish in the money. Seul Amour’s first crop also includes top-class 3yo Heart Of A Lion, runner up in the Listed Sea Cottage Stakes and a likely classic contender this season.
