Silvano shines on Guineas day
Maine Chance Farms’ resident stallion Silvano has been enjoying a terrific season.
Not only did he sire the sales topping lot at the 2013 Cape Premier Yearling Sale (Book 1), Silvano is also sire of 2013 J&B Met winner Martial Eagle.

His success continued at Turffontein this Saturday, with his son Tellina landing the Gr.2 Gauteng Guineas, another son, Seal, taking the Listed Aquanaut Handicap, and a filly, Do You Remember, taking second place in the Gr2 Wilgerbosdrift Gauteng Fillies Guineas.

Silvano, who stood the 2012 season for a stud fee of R120,000, is currently the leading active sire in South Africa.
He is behind only the ill-fated Jet Master on the general sires list at the time of writing. It surely can’t be long before Silvano claims his first general sires title.

The son of Lomitas will be represented strongly at both the Cape Premier Yearling Sale (Book 2) and at the Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale.

Silvano’s offspring on sale at the Cape Sale include a filly whose dam is a winning sister to the feature race winner Cask (G2 Premier’s Trophy), and is from the outstanding Australian family of Denise’s Joy.

He has no fewer than 35 lots on offer at the National Sale. Silvano yearlings on offer in Johannesburg include a three parts sister to champion Kings Gambit, a half-brother to speedy filly Comet Chaser, and a full brother to this season’s leading 3yo, Act Fast.
