Klawervlei Stud’s exciting young sire Seventh Rock had an eye catching debut winner at the Vaal on Thursday.
His 2yo son Red Rock won first time out, scoring by half a length from British Royale in what was a smart debut effort. It was another 6.75 lengths away to third place finisher Mia Culpa.
Bred by the Tawny Syndicate, Red Rock is owned by Chris Van Niekerk in partnership with Portapa (Pty) Ltd T/A Supabets.
This promising and undefeated 2yo was a R400 000 buy from the 2015 CTS Johannesburg Ready To Run Sale.
Red Rock’s sire Seventh Rock, himself a Grade One winner at two, has made an exceptional start to his stud career with his first two crops including the G1 winners Guiness and Seventh Plain, with the latter South Africa’s Equine Champion 2YO Colt of 2014-2015.
A son of the great Rock Of Gibraltar and champion filly Ruby Clipper, Seventh Rock has 12 lots on sale at today’s Emperors Palace Select Yearling Sale, including a filly from the family of Investec Oaks winner Taghrooda, a colt from the family of Shea Shea, and a half brother to champion Hammie’s Hooker.
His 2 lots on the National Sale include a half sister to the very talented filly Sea Shadow, and a colt whose dam is a full sister to exported G1 winning 2yo Zeeno.
