Smart juvenile winner for Britain

Highlands Farm’s sires were in good form this weekend, and their blue blooded Great Britain had a smart looking juvenile winner on Friday.

Great Britain’s son, Great Waves, made it second time lucky, after finishing second to Listed Summer Juvenile Stakes runner up Pacific Spirit on debut.
The Ascot Stud bred colt, was too quick for his rivals in a juvenile plate over 1000m, with Great Waves showing tremendous courage to prevail by a short head, with some bred juveniles left trailing in his wake.

Great Waves, who is trained by Dorrie Sham, has now won or placed in both starts, and this R120 000 buy from last year’s National 2YO Sale looks sure to go on from this promising start.

His sire Great Britain, an Al Quoz Sprint winning full brother to champion sire Cape Cross, made a pleasing start with his first small South African crop.
This crop (now 3) includes just 15 runners –but nine of these have won and this small sample includes the G1 performer Mystical Twilight among others.

Great Britain’s sire Green Desert is the founder of one of the hottest male lines around with his descendants including such top class sires as Cape Cross, Invincible Spirit, Oasis Dream, Querari, Sea The Stars, Showcasing and I Am Invincible.
