Son of Seattle soars!
Seattle Storm, a son of leading first crop sire Sail From Seattle, scored his third win from just five starts when slaughtering his opponents by over seven lengths at Fairview on Friday.
The gelding, who was bred by the Ascot Stud, had previously given his sire his first stakes winner when he won the East Cape Nursery.
Sail From Seattle has made a superb start to his stud career. His first crop of juveniles this season have produced five winners, including the impressive debut winner My Nephew Eric and Seattle Fairy. He is currently South Africa’s second leading first crop sire, with his offspring having earned well over R700 000 already.
Sail From Seattle’s first crop includes no fewer than five stakes horses, including the Gr1 placed Tommy Gun.
From a superb female line whose members include champion sire Smart Strike (himself an increasingly influential sire of sires and broodmare sire), Sail From Seattle’s yearlings have proved popular once again in 2013.
At the 2013 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale, a colt fetched R475 000, while a filly by the sire was knocked down for R425 000. This makes for impressive reading when taking into consideration the stud fee was R15 000 at the time of conception.
A stakes winning son of Gone West (like champion sire Western Winter), Sail From Seattle stands at the Ascot Stud.
