Wilgerbosdrift’s exciting new sire Flower Alley, who will stand his first season at stud in South Africa in 2015, made the perfect start to the New Year when daughter Awesome Flower landed Saturday’s Wintergreen Stakes at Turfway Park.

Dispatched as favourite for the 1600m race, Awesome Flower pulled clear to register a 1.25 length victory – despite having a wide trip.
A really smart filly, Awesome Flower has now won nine races and over $460 000 in stakes.
Her tally of victories include five feature races, and the six year-old mare has also been twice graded stakes placed.
The Ken and Sarah Ramsey owned mare was produced by the winning Awesome Again mare Formalities Aside.

Awesome Flower is one of 16 stakes winners sired by Flower Alley to date.

The son of champion US sire Distorted Humor ended 2014 above such stallions as Exchange Rate, Hard Spun, Northern Afleet, Stormy Atlantic and Tale Of The Cat on North America’s Leading Sires by AEI (according to The Blood-Horse).

His lifetime AEI is 1.61, his comp index is 1.39 – he upgrades his mares impressively, as only the best stallions do.
