Klipdrif Stud’s exciting young sire Elusive Fort, one of South Africa’s most popular young stallions, had a smart debut winner at the Vaal’s Thursday race meeting.
His 2yo daughter Heaven’s Door impressed when breaking her maiden in open company (another 2yo daughter of Elusive Fort, Intisara, was back in third) over 1200m, and this Peter de Beyer bred filly looks a filly of promise.
Owned by the Hyperpaint Syndicate, and trained by Paul Peter, Heaven’s Door, who romped home by a comfortable two lengths on Thursday, was a R70 000 buy from last year’s March Yearling Sale.
She is out of the Centenary mare Beautiful Noise, who won three times up to 1200m.
Heaven’s Door’s sire Elusive Fort is enjoying an excellent season with his juveniles this season. To date, the former Equus Champion and triple G1 winner has had six 2yos this season win or finish in the money, with his top performers including Listed Somerset 1200 runner up Elevated.
A proven sire, whose offspring include such G1 winners as Lauderdale and Siren’s Call, Elusive Fort has two lots on offer at the Sibaya KZN Yearling Sale at the end of the month:
Lot 203 – bred on the hugely successful Fort Wood/Al Mufti cross, this colt (a half brother to 4 winners) is out of a stakes placed own sister to the dam of champion, July winner and promising young sire Bold Silvano
Lot 256 – bred on a similar cross to G1 winner Athina, this filly (a half sister to a winner), is out of a half sister to 2 stakes horses, including stakes winner Champagne Preview.
