Among the former Equus Champion’s first crop is this lovely filly who is out of the winning Spectrum mare Helen Back. The latter is from the outstanding Sister Sublime family, with her relatives including G1 winner Saintly Lady, top sprinters Abbey Boy and Soul, along with a torrent of other high class black type performers.

The Apache was an outstanding racehorse who enjoyed top flight success both in South Africa and overseas.
Equus Champion 3YO Colt of 2011, The Apache’s five wins at three included the G1 Champions Cup, G1 Daily News 2000 and G2 Dingaans.
Exported to Dubai, the horse went on to claim the G2 Al Rashidiya (over French G1 winner Aesop’s Fable), and finish second in both the G1 Jebel Hatta and G1 Dubai Duty Free.

Sent to North America for a crack at the G1 Arlington Million, The Apache finished first past the post in a race won previously by champion sire Silvano. However, he was later disqualified and demoted to second, while finishing ahead of the likes of Finnegans Wake (G1Turf Classic), Hunter’s Light (G1 Jebel Hatta), Side Glance (G1 Mackinnon Stakes), and the aforementioned Little Mike.

Among the top international stars defeated by The Apache were such G1 winners as French Fifteen, Giofra, I’m A Dreamer, Master Of Hounds, Side Glance, Trade Storm and Wigmore Hall. Eclipse Champion and Breeders Cup Turf winner Little Mike was another conquered by the handsome The Apache.
