The Distorted Humor impact

Cape breeders are lucky enough to have access to two G1 winning sons of outstanding US sire Distorted Humor.
Champion Sire in the USA in 2011, and sire of 17 G1 winners the world over, Distorted Humor is enjoying another hugely successful year in 2016, with his influence being felt as a sire, sire of sires and broodmare sire.

Distorted Humor (Forty Niner) has himself been represented by more than 130 stakes winners, and has been represented in 2016 by the brilliant G1 Vosburgh Sprint hero and G1 Breeders’ Cup Sprint hope Joking,  and G3 Fort Marcy Handicap winner Ironicus –who was runner up in this year’s G1 Manhattan Stakes and G1 Shadwell Turf Mile.

His progeny, who have earned over $118 million in prize money, include US classic winners Funny Cide and Drosselmeyer, as well as such high class turf G1 winners Cursory Glance, Pathfork, Fourty Niners Son, and Boisterous.

Distorted Humor is also making a name for himself as a sire of sires, with his top sons include the Cape based pair of Flower Alley and Pathfork, as well as G1 Haskell winner Any Given Saturday –sire of recent G1 Jockey Club Gold Cup hero Hoppertunity and G1 Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint hero Mongolian Saturday.

Another son of the sire to impress in recent times is undefeated Maclean’s Music, who is currently the ninth leading first crop sire in North America.  Maclean’s Music (who stands for a fee of $6500) has already 14 first crop winners to his credit –including three stakes horses.

One of the most exciting broodmare sires around, Distorted Humor is damsire of one of North America’s very best 2yos –Practical Joke (Into Mischief).

Unbeaten in three outings to date, Practical Joke stamped himself as a leading contender for the G1 Sentinent Jet Breeders’ Cup Juvenile with gutsy wins in both the G1 Hopeful and G1 Champagne Stakes.
Already broodmare sire of 48 stakes winners, Distorted Humor is also broodmare sire of this season’s  brilliant US 3yo Arrogant (Unbridled’s Song) –a 13.5 length winner of the 2016 G1 Travers Stakes.

This magnificent sire  has a pair of G1 winning sons representing him in the Cape, Flower Alley and Pathfork, and surely the Distorted Humor will be well and truly felt in South Africa before too long!
