Drakenstein Stud’s resident sire Trippi looks to have a really smart sort on his hands in the form of the Normandy Stud bred Ferrie.
The latter, a R750 000 buy from the 2014 Cape Premier Yearling Sale , made it three wins on the bounce when effortlessly capturing a graduation plate over 1000m at Greyville on Wednesday afternoon and Ferrie looks a sophomore with a bright future ahead of him.
Yet to finish out of the money in five career outings, Ferrie looks destined for bigger things if Wednesday’s easy win is anything to go by.
His sire Trippi has had a sensational year in 2015-2016 and currently heads South Africa’s General Sires List.
His 11 stakes winners this season, who have won no fewer than 14 individual black type races, include dual G1 winner Inara, G1 Sansui Summer Cup runner up Deo Juvente, R8 000 000 plus earner Illuminator, G2 Premier Trophy hero Paterfamilias, G2 Merchants hero Triptique, Guineas winner Brilliant Crimson and high class fillies Fromafar and Real Princess.
Trippi, whose daughter Announcing Rain topped last year’s KZN Sale, has two lots on sale at next month’s Sibaya KZN Yearling Sale:
Lot 57 –bred on the same cross as stakes winners Agra and Franny, this well bred filly, a half sister to 4 winners, is out of an own sister to ill-fated champion and multiple G1 winner National Currency as well as to G2 Camellia Stakes winner Dollar Bright
Lot 269 –this beautifully bred filly is out of a stakes placed Jet Master half sister to the Trippi sired Equus Champion and millionaire Hammie’s Hooker. That makes the filly on sale a three parts sister to that seven time stakes winner.
A son of End Sweep, Trippi will stand for a fee of R250 000 in 2016.
