Tremendous treble for Trippi
Drakenstein’s world-class stallion Trippi (End Sweep – Jealous Appeal) had a winning treble at Kenilworth on Wednesday.
His son Cardinal won the first race of the day, while Trippi fillies, Aksaray and Diva’s Daughter, won the seventh and eighth races respectively.
Trippi, whose son Paterfamilias won his second consecutive race at Kenilworth on Sunday, has been enjoying a tremendous winning streak with his offspring. Last week his US based son Majestic Stride became his sire’s 40th stakes winner when he won the Gr3 Veron O. Underwood Stakes.
Trippi, whose offspring have earned a staggering $47 000 000 , is well represented in Saturday’s Cape features. His speedy daughters, Franny and Agra, line up in the Gr2 Tony Taberer Southern Cross Stakes, while Trippi daughter, Lanner Falcon, is a runner in the Gr1 Avontuur Estate Cape Fillies Guineas.
While best known as a sire of speedy, precocious stock, Trippi is also capable of siring horses who get a bit of ground. His son Abercrombie, third in both last season’s Gr2 Betting World Derby and this season’s Gr3 Algoa Cup, is one of 16 horses entered in the Gr3 Cape Summer Stayers Handicap over 1400m.
An exceptional racehorse himself, Trippi’s local performers include brilliant filly Hammie’s Hooker, an impressive winner of this season’s Gr3 Diana Stakes.
