Trippi colt wins on debut

Drakenstein Stud’s resident champion sire Trippi has enjoyed a tremendous run of success in recent weeks, with a pair of eye catching winners at Turffontein on Saturday, and he had another smart looking debut winner at the Vaal on Thursday.

The Al Adaayit South Africa bred and owned Mawsoof was always handy in the 1000m event and the strapping bay pulled clearly pleasingly of his rivals to post an impressive 4.75 length win first time out at the expense of the well bred Ragnarok (a full-brother to champion Laverna).

Mawsoof, who was sent off tote favourite for the maiden plate, is out of the winning Western Winter mare Besma.

He is one of a number of high-class sophomores representing Trippi this year, with other 3yos including unbeaten BSA Million winner Broadway Trip, the highly rated Cot Campbell (who has been entered for the G3 Cape Classic) and Fillies Championship entrant Miss Katalin.

Champion sire of 2015-2016, Trippi’s 60 plus stakes winners include five time G1 winner Inara, Equus Champion Hammie’s Hooker and recent G1 winners Deo Juvente and Real Princess.

He has three lots on offer at next month’s CTS Ready To Run Sale.
