The brilliant Liam’s Map, a maternal grandson of Drakenstein Stud’s resident sire Trippi, made an impressive stakes debut when he won Saturday’s Harlan’s Holiday Stakes at Gulfstream Park.

The colt, who is by Unbridled’s Song out of the brilliant Trippi mare Miss Macy Sue, took his record to three wins from four outings with a courageous half length victory over Gr2 Monmouth Cup winner Valid.

His victory stamped Liam’s Map, himself an $800 000 yearling buy, as a likely contender for the Gr1 Donn Handicap to be run next February.

Liam’s Map’s dam, Miss Macy Sue, was a top class racemare, whose 11 career victories included five in stakes. Third in the Breeders Cup F&M Sprint of 2007, Miss Macy Sue is also the dam of the very promising 2yo filly Taylor S (by Medaglia D’Oro). The latter, third in the recent Rags To Riches Stakes, was a brilliant winner on debut, and looks set to for a lucrative career as a 3yo next year.

Trippi, whose weekend winners in South Africa included the very promising 3yo Liquid Mercury, is enjoying a sensational run of success this season.

His winners this season include the feature race winners Ha Lucy, Trip Tease, Trip To Heaven and Zambezi River, with the latter representing Trippi in Saturday’s Grade 1 Grand Parade Cape Guineas. Another of Trippi’s runners, Inara, ran second in the recent Grade 1 Avontuur Estate Cape Fillies Guineas, and Trippi sired runners have amassed in excess of $50 million – a truly formidable total, and one which continues to grow.
