Trippi grandson catches the eye at Saratoga

Drakenstein Stud’s champion sire Trippi continues to make waves as a hugely promising broodmare sire.
The son of End Sweep, whose daughters have already produced the likes of G1 Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile winning sire Liam’s Map and US graded winners Not This Time and Multiplier, is damsire of a very promising two-year-old in the form of the undefeated Aveenu Malcainu.

The latter took his tally to two wins from as many outings when landing the Funny Cide Stakes, over 1300m at Saratoga, by two and a half lengths on Friday.
Aveenu Malcainu’s victory was all the more impressive when taking into account the fact the 1-2 chance hit his head before the race and bled out of his eye.

A smart winner on debut, Aveenu Malcainu impressed rider Luis Saez, who said off the facile victory, “It was perfect. I put pressure on my horse and we took off.”

A crack at the G1 Champagne Stakes could now be on the cards for Aveenu Malcainu, a son of Into Mischief.
(The same Into Mischief/Trippi cross is also responsible for multiple stakes winning filly Miss Sunset).

The colt is out of Trippi’s stakes winning daughter Island Time, whose wins included the Desert Vixen Stakes.

South Africa’s Champion Sire of 2015-2016, Trippi’s 60 plus stakes winners included last season’s high-class performers Deo Juvente (Premier’s Champions Challenge), Trip To Heaven (G2 Diadem Stakes), Gold Standard (G2 Selangor Cup) and Live Life (G2 Cartier Sceptre Stakes).
