Trippi grandson favourite for Breeders Cup

The brilliant Liam’s Map, whose dam is Trippi mare Miss Macy Sue, has been installed the even money favourite for Friday’s G1 Dirt Mile at Keeneland, after he was handed a plum draw of three.
Trained by Todd Pletcher, Liam’s Map has done nothing wrong in his brief career thus far, with the handsome grey colt having won five of just seven outings and more than $800 000 in prize money.

Last time out, Liam’s Map annihilated a high class field when landing the G1 Woodward Stakes by four and a quarter lengths for owner Teresa Viola. He had previously won the Harlan’s Holiday Stakes and also put up a bold showing when second to top Breeders Cup Classic hopeful Honor Code in the 2015 G1 Whitney Stakes.
His trainer had the following to say of Liam’s Map, “”He’s a horse that is very, very fast. He’s brilliantly fast. He also has the ability to carry it over a distance of ground … he’s got a high cruising speed-if you don’t go with him you’re in trouble and if you go with him, you’re in more trouble.”
Liam’s Map greatest challenge could come from former G1 Donn Handicap winner Lea, with other strong challengers including last year’s Dirt Mile runner up Tapiture and former G1 Wood Memorial Stakes winner Wicked Strong.

His broodmare sire Trippi, whose runners include no fewer than 100 stakes horses, has a number of high class runners representing him in South Africa this season including recent G3 Diana Stakes winner Inara and G3 World Sports Betting Joburg Challene winner Trip To Heaven.

Another promising sort sired by Trippi is the Joey Soma trained Graduation Day, who made it three wins from just four wins when landing an MR 88 Handicap over 1200m at the Vaal on Tuesday.

The son of End Sweep has eight lots on offer at next month’s CTS Ready To Run Sale Presented by Lanzerac Hotel And Spa –including a colt out of G1 winner Imperious Star, a filly out of G1 Empress Club Stakes heroine Little Miss Magic, a colt out of National Assembly’s top sprinter Mocha Java and a colt out of Candy Ride’s G3 Jubilee Handicap winning half sister Candy Singer.
