Trippi –South Africa’s Champion Sire!

Drakenstein Stud’s outstanding resident sire Trippi is officially South Africa’s Champion Sire for the 2015-2016 racing season.
End Sweep’s magnificent son ended the recently completed racing season with his offspring having won R18 666 925 (according to the NHA), which places their sire on top of the General Sires List.

Trippi, who was landing his first General Sires Title, enjoyed an unbelievable run of success this last season.

Not only did Trippi’s runners include 11 stakes winners of 18 individual black type races, but he is also responsible for inaugural CTS Million Dollar winner Illuminator. (A sign of Trippi’s dominance, however, can be seen by that face Illuminnator’s big win was not included in the NHA list).

Trippi, who also ended the season in the top five on the 2YO Sires List, was represented by no fewer than eight graded winners in 2015-2016.

His top offspring this past season included G1 winners Inara and Real Princess (both potential Equus Award contenders), top sprinters Trip To Heaven and Triptique, G1 Summer Cup runner up Deo Juvente, the versatile multiple stakes winner Lanner Falcon, and G2 Premier Trophy hero Paterfamilias.

His daughter Inara enjoyed a particularly memorable season –with that Drakenstein Stud bred and owned filly winning Grade One races in three different provinces!

Trippi’s remarkable season could have been even better –his son Trip To Heaven finished first past the post in the G1 Rising Sun Gold Challenge, but was controversially demoted to second.

This remarkable sire also enjoyed success in the sales ring during 2016 – Trippi’s yearlings fetched up to R3.3 million this year, and he was also responsible for the R2.5 million sales topper at the 2016 National Yearling Sale.

Now an official champion sire, Trippi’s offspring have earned more than $50 000 000 worldwide, and his legacy seems long set to continue!
