Var filly impresses on debut

Avontuur Thoroughbred Farm’s leading sire Var looks to have a really smart prospect on his hands in the form of La Roquette.
Owned by the Bouwers, and bred by Varsfontein Stud, the 3yo La Roquette simply demolished her rivals when racing to clear to win first time out at the Vaal on Thursday and she looks well above average.

La Roquette, who is out of the Western Winter mare Jodie, was the top lot sold at the 2015 National Two Year Old Sale, where she was knocked down for R1 100 000.

The filly is bred on the same Var/Western Winter cross as smart stakes winners Le Var and Winter Passion, as well as the smart sprinter Valberg.

Var has some cracking three-year-olds representing him this season and they include the above mentioned La Roquette, G1 SA Nursery runner up Rivarine, brilliant feature race winner Exquisite Touch and G2 The Debutante winner A Womens Way.
