Weekend double for Trippi

Drakenstein Stud’s resident sire Trippi, who is on course to record his first ever General Sires title in South Africa, had yet another good weekend double recently. His son Gregorian Chant scored a fluent win at Scottsville on Saturday, and the following day, Trippi filly San Paolo got off the mark when winning by three lengths at Turffontein.

Trippi’s pair of winners this past weekend include the regally bred Gregorian Chant –with that Drakenstein Stud bred colt becoming Trippi’s tenth juvenile winner this season.

Notable 2yo winners for the son of End Sweep this season include Listed Storm Bird Stakes winner Flying Myth, G2 Golden Slipper runner up Dawn Calling, G1 performer Double Appeal, and the very promising Listed Perfect Promise Sprint runner up Live Life.

Trippi is strongly represented in Saturday’s feature races at Greyville.  His two runners in the G2 The Debutante are Trippi’s Girl and Water Lily Lake, while Trippi’s top class son Flying Myth looks a big runner in Saturday’s G2 Umkhomazi Stakes.

Other feature race contenders for this outstanding sire on the day include Dawn Calling (G1 Thekwini Stakes), Baritone (G1 Mike and Carol Bass Champions Cup),  Beloved Country (Listed Umngeni Handicap), Night Trip and Tripandie (The Darley Arabian). Remarkably, Night Trip will be seeking his third win in the Listed The Darley Arabian –he has won it in 2014 and 2015.
