Mauritzfontein’s promising young sire Ideal World enjoyed more notable success over the weekend, when he had a hatrick of winners, in two different countries!
The son of Kingmambo’s daughter Panchatanta won her second race of her career, when she prevailed by a neck over 1200m at Turffontein on Sunday. Bred by Mauritzfontein, the consistent Panchatanta (she has won or placed in each of her last five outings) was produced by the four time winner and G2 Gauteng Fillies Guineas placed Fort Wood mare Chinchuna.
Ideal World’s good form continued at Borrowdale on the same day, when his 2yo daughter Betula Uber won the Listed Breeders Fillies Mile and 3yo daughter Fig Jam picked up the sixth race, a graduation plate over 1800m.
Betula Uber, a member of her sire’s second crop, has now won or placed in all three of her career outings and she looks a potential classic hope for next season. Bred by Mauritzfontein Stud, she is out of the Strike Smartly matron Hard Wood.
Third of the Ideal World sired winners this weekend was Fig Jam, who had won the Listed Zimbabwe Oaks two starts back.
Now a two time winner from just three outings in Zimbabwe, Fig Jam is out of Saumarez’s three time winning daughter Sycamore Fig.
A stakes winning son of Kingmambo and former Eclipse Champion Banks Hill, Ideal World got off to the perfect start at stud, with his first crop including the G1 Woolavington 2000 winner Smart Call and his second the highly rated Persian Rug, who lines up in next weekend’s G1 Thekwini Stakes.
