Weekend treble for Judpot

Varsfontein Stud’s blue blooded sire Judpot is enjoying another successful season. Kingmambo’s half brother, sire of recent G2 Supreme Cup hero Deputy Jud, is South Africa’s Leading Sire on Sand for 2015-2016, and the son of AP Indy had yet another treble of winners this past weekend.

Judpot’s most impressive winner this weekend was undoubtedly his daughter Little Genie, who picked up the second feature race win of her career when she won the Listed Gardenia Handicap on Saturday.
Bred by Danika Stud, Little Genie showed plenty of courage to deny the outstanding filly Carry On Alice victory by a head.
Jockey Craig Zackey looked in a spot of trouble when he dropped his crop at the 250m, but the game Judpot filly kept finding more to record her fifth straight win on the bounce.

It was another two and a quarter lengths back to third place finisher Seventh Symphony.

Little Genie, a R130 000 buy from the 2013 Cape Premier Yearling Sale (Book 2), has now won five of her seven outings, with her previous stakes win coming in the Listed Banyana Handicap –on the now defunct Vaal sand track.

She is from the second crop of Judpot, a crop which also produced the above mentioned Deputy Jud as well as G3 Diana Stakes heroine Double Whammy.

Judpot has 3 lots on offer at Friday’s CTS Ready To Run Sale presented by Lanzerac Hotel & Spa. His draft includes a filly out of a stakes winning mare, whose relatives include SA Oaks winner Sabina Park (Lot 78), a colt out of a three parts sister to G1 H F Oppenheimer Horse Chestnut Stakes winner Captain America (Lot 81), and a colt (bred like champion Along Came Polly) out of a G2 winning Model Man mare (Lot 174).
