Weekend treble for Silvano

Maine Chance Farms’ outstanding sire Silvano had another weekend to remember when the son of Lomitas was represented by a trio of winners.
Two of Silvano’s weekend winners came at Durbanville, with his son Strathdon breaking his maiden at just the second time of asking for owner-breeders Alec and Gillian Foster.

Silvano’s other Durbanville winner came in the form of potential G3 Diana Stakes contender Silvan Star who impressed all when she ran out a cosy two and a quarter length winner of a novice plate over 1600m.
Bred by Ascot Stud, the four-year-old had impressed earlier when winning first time out by six lengths, and Silvan Star looks set for a good season this year.

Silvano’s other winner over the weekend came in the form of the Dieu Farm bred Patric who broke his maiden over 1600m at Turffontein on Saturday.

Runner up on the General Sires List last season (and Champion Sire in 2013), Silvano, whose numerous G1 winners include last season’s Equus Champion Marinaresco, is currently heading the General Sires List.

The champion has seven lots on offer at the upcoming CTS Ready To Run Sale:
