Winners flow for Seventh Rock
Klawervlei Stud’s promising young sire, Seventh Rock, has enjoyed a good run with his first crop runners this week.
Daughter Seven Whispers made a winning debut at the Vaal on Thursday, while a son of Seventh Rock, Restless Road, won first time out over 1000m for trainer Yvette Bremner on Friday.
Bred by the Arc-en-Ciel Stud, Restless Road was a R170 000 buy at the 2013 Cape Premier Yearling Sale (Book 2).
The gelding is out of the winning Western Winter mare Balar – a full-sister to the high-class sprinter The Boogieman.
Restless Road is the fifth first crop winner for Seventh Rock, whose first crop are 2yos this season.
Seventh Rock, who is currently South Africa’s second leading first crop sire by winners, was a top-class performer, whose six wins included the Gr1 Gold Medallion and Gr3 Tommy Hotspur Handicap .
An exceptionally well bred horse, Seventh Rock (who earned over R800 000 on the racetrack) is by world leading sire Rock Of Gibraltar (whose progeny have excelled in South Africa).
Rock Of Gibraltar has been represented by no fewer than 11 stakes winners in South Africa (from just a handful of runners) – including multiple Gr1 winner Europa Point (Champions Challenge), Seventh Rock, and this season’s high-class fillies Arcetri Pink (Gr2 Wilgerbosdrift Gauteng Fillies Guineas) and Rich Girl(Gr3 Strelitzia Stakes).
Seventh Rock looks set to continue his sire’s remarkable run of success in South Africa.
