$470 000 for Marchfield filly
Moutonshoek’s exciting young sire Marchfield proved popular at Monday’s Fasig Tipton’s Summer Selected Horses Of Racing Age.

A daughter of A P Indy’s champion son was knocked down to Three Chimneys, agent, for $470 000. The 2yo gray filly, who has been named Bath Village, was the session’s fifth top lot.
Bath Village, catalogued as lot 413, is out of the Deputy Minister mare Christie Village and hails from the same family as last year’s US Champion 3YO Colt Will Take Charge.

Marchfield, whose first US crop are now two, was a dual Champion in Canada. The horse, who won over $1 million in prize money, won Canada’s classic race, the Breeders Stakes, at three, and won or placed in eight other stakes events.

He shares his sire A P Indy with top sires Bernardini, Pulpit, Indygo Shiner, Judpot, Mineshaft and Stephen Got Even and this is the same male line has dominated North American classic races in 2014.

A half-brother to two other stakes performers, Marchfield is out of Broodmare Of The Year Pico Teneriffe, a graded stakes winning daughter of world leading sire Red Ransom.

He is a direct descendant of the important US tap root mare Alablue, whose numerous high-class descendants also include former successful South African sires Peaceable Kingdom and Home Guard.

His first South African foals will be born this year.
