Another winner for hot Pius
Highlands Farm’s young sire Antonius Pius has made a sensational start to his stud career, and had yet another impressive debut winner when Lavender Landscape won first time out at the Vaal on Thursday.
Currently South Africa’s leading first crop sire by winners, Antonius Pius has already been represented by some impressive winners from his first local crop of 2yos.
These winners include the fluent debut winners Ace Antonius, Lavender Landscape and Yoshie, as well as smart filly My Sanctuary. The latter won her first two starts in devastating fashion, and looks a filly of huge ability.
Understandably after this fine start, Antonius Pius has also proven popular in the sales ring. This year, his yearlings have sold up to R700,000 – and the best could well be yet to come!
Runner up in the 2004 Breeders Cup Mile, the son of Danzig has three impeccably bred yearlings coming up for sale at the 2013 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale.
They include a colt from the family of champion Forward Filly (who was by a son of Danzig), a colt out of the top-class Elliodor mare Kokkewiet, and a colt out of a stakes placed mare from the great Lily family.
Antonius Pius stands at Highlands, and his 2012 stud fee was at R15,000.
