Breeders/Stallion stats changes
The National Horseracing Authority recently announced that stakes earned by horses competing in restricted races will no longer be included in the statistics and totals for either breeders or stallions.
However, the stake money from these self same restricted contests will be applicable in owners, trainers and jockeys logs.
The decision to exclude winnings from restricted races was motivated by the fact that these results could have a drastic and misleading impact on both the breeders/sires log, irrespective of individual merit.
These changes will take place from next season, with the above changes applying from the 1st of August 2013. Any restricted race earnings will apply up to the end of this current season, with the official changes only applying next racing season.
The NHA defined a restricted race as one where participants are confined either to being born in a specific area, have graduated off one particular sale, or to horses selected on a random basis.
