The Gavin Schafer bred mare Pin Oak made headlines at yesterday’s New Zealand Bloodstock’s Ready To Run Sale.

Pin Oak, a superbly bred daughter of former champion sire Fort Wood, is the dam of a Savabeel colt (catalogued as lot 100), who was the second top lot of the first day of trading at the sale.

The colt, who was consigned by Blackbridge as Agent, was knocked down to Rogerson Bloodstock for NZ $300 000.

His dam, Pin Oak, herself the dam of the winning Super Villain (also by Savabeel), is a half sister to the brilliant Slumdogmillionaire. Subsequently exported to Dubai, Slumdogmillionaire (by Strike Smartly), earned over R2.2 million in South Africa, where his victories included a score in the Gr1 Horse Chestnut Stakes and a gutsy win in the Gr1 SA Classic.

She is also a full sister to the high class performers Cycad (G2 Gold Vase) and Trade Specialist (Woolavington Hcp).

Pink Oak is out of the Last Tycoon mare Make A Million – a half sister to G1 Underwood Stakes winner and sire Runyon (by Sadler’s Wells).
