Cape Bred shines in Singapore
The Maine Chance Farms’ bred Flax has been one of Singapore’s better performers in recent years. He confirmed this status with a game victory in Sunday’s G2 Chairman’s Trophy, where Flax prevailed narrowly, by a long neck, over Nandowra.

His victory in the 1800m contest took Flax’s winning tally in Singapore to seven, and the gelded son of Silvano has won or placed in 11 of his 18 starts. Winner of the G1 Raffles Cup earlier in the season, Flax has now earned SIN $1,001, 216.

Trained by David Hill for the Newbury Racing Stable, Flax (previously known as Ballistic) was a R230 000 buy at the 2008 Emperors Palace National 2yo Sale.

He was produced by the Elliodor mare Bejewelled Spring – a winning Elliodor half-sister to former champion 2yo Blossoming Fields.
