Cape bred superstar returns to the track!
The Highlands Farm bred Soft Falling Rain is likely to make his British debut at Newbury on Saturday. The unbeaten son of National Assembly is a probable runner in the G2 Betfred Hungerford Stakes, a race over 1400m.

Potential rivals for the colt could include G1 winners Gordon Lord Byron and Most Improved, 2000 Guineas runner up Glory Awaits, German 2000 Guineas winner Caspar Netscher and Oratorio’s talented filly, Viztoria.

Owned by Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Soft Falling Rain has not started since his gallant victory in the Gr2 Godolphin Mile on Dubai World Cup night at the end of March.

Unbeaten in seven starts, Soft Falling Rain is the only 3yo ever to have won the Gr2 Godolphin Mile. He had previously won both the UAE 2000 Guineas prep and the Gr3 UAE 2000 Guineas.

South Africa’s Equus Champion 2yo colt of 2012, Soft Falling Rain won all four of his local starts. His unbeaten juvenile campaign culminated in a 4.5 length romp in the Gr1 SA Nursery, over a field which included the likes of The Hangman, Love Struck, and War Horse.

He is out of Giant’s Causeway mare, Gardener’s Delight.
