Cape Sale kicks off on Saturday
The Cape Premier Yearling Sale (Book 2) is set to get underway at Durbanville racecourse this Saturday.
The two day sale starts on Saturday afternoon, with the sale set to begin at 17:00.
Day one will see the first 120 lots go through the ring, with Sunday’s trading set to begin at 12:30.
The catalogue looks a strong one, with many of the Cape’s top farms strongly represented in the 284 lot catalogue.
Leading stallions Captain Al, Dynasty, National Emblem, Silvano, Tiger Ridge, Trippi and Var all have yearlings on sale, as do exciting young sires Antonius Pius, Argonaut, Jay Peg Judpot, Rebel King and Sail From Seattle, to mention a few.
The G1 winner Seventh Rock, who was so popular in Book One, is also well represented on the sale with 12 yearlings by him on offer.
The catalogue also offers siblings to such smart performers as Diana’s Choice, Esterel, Hammie’s Hooker, Lion Tamer, My Lord Duke, Poly Nation, Wagner, Weston Paint and Winona, as well as the first foal out of G1 winning filly, Sparkling Gem (a Trippi filly) and a colt (by Lateral) out of champion racemare Donatella. There is also a full brother on sale, by Sail From Seattle, to this season’s very promising 2yo, Navistar.
Cape Thoroughbred Sales’ Adrian Todd is pleased with the strength of the catalogue, saying,” CTS hopes this sale will benefit from the exciting Challenge series which we recently announced, as well as the trainers incentive programme. We are delighted by the strength of the catalogue, which contains a number of really top-quality horses.”
