Captain’s cracking crop

Captain’s cracking crop
Leading sire Captain Al has a phenomenal crop of two-year-olds this season – even by his high standards.
The 16 year old son of Al Mufti had another two stakes winners emerging from his 2010 crop when Zambezi Torrent (Gatecrasher Stakes) and Pure Power (Irridescence Stakes) won feature races on Saturday.

On the same day, Captain Al filly Alascan Maiden ran second in the Listed Devon Air Stakes.
To date, Captain Al’s juveniles include seven stakes horses, including the first three home in the Gr3 Kenilworth Fillies Nursery (Wheredowego, Alascan Maiden, Pure Power) and the 1-3 in the Gr1 Tsogo Sun Medallion (Captain of All, Captain’s Reserve). This crop also includes the highly rated Secret Command, an unbeaten brother to champion filly All is Secret.

His dominance in this season juvenile features has also been felt as a broodmare sire. Captain Al is the damsire of this season’s Gr3 Cape of Good Hope Nursery winner, Flash Drive.

Remarkably, Captain Al fillies have now won the Irridescence Stakes four times!

He is currently well clear on the leading sires of juveniles list for the season and is bidding to land his fifth juvenile sires title.
