Champion for Philanthropist

Champion for Philanthropist
Drakenstein Stud’s exciting young sire Philanthropist is the sire of Phil’s Dream, who was recently named Canada’s Sovereign Champion Sprinter for 2013 at an awards ceremony held at Woodbine last Friday evening.

Phil’s Dream is one of two champions produced by Philanthropist’s small first crop – the other being dual Canadian classic winner Pender Harbour (Champion 3YO Male in 2011).

Phil’s Dream won the Gr1 Nearctic Sprint in 2013, and two other stakes races. In total, Phil’s Dream won seven of his ten outings last year, and banked over $500 000.
To date, Phil’s Dream (who was produced by the Emperors Jones mare Dream A Dream), has won eight of his 14 outings.

His sire Philanthropist won six of his 18 outings, and scored his major victory in the Gr3 Queens County Handicap. A son of world leading sire Kris S (sire of top US stallion Arch), Philanthropist is a half-brother to recent Gr3 Canadian Turf Stakes winner Reload, and hails from the same family as outstanding broodmare Grey Flight and North American legend Native Dancer.
He stands alongside Horse Chestnut, Trippi and What A Winter at Drakenstein Stud.
