Dan De Lago in fine fettle!

Dan De Lago in fine fettle!
The beautifully bred and well performed Dan De Lago is currently standing his second season at The Alchemy.
As the photos show, Dan is letting really well, and looks magnificent at the moment. An athletic horse with a superb temperament, Dan De Lago has the pedigree and race record to match his physique and personality.

A top-class performer himself, Dan De Lago cost AUS$480 000 as a yearling. He is one of 94 stakes winners sired by multiple champion sire Encosta de Lago.  Among these are no fewer than 19 Group One winners, including the ill-fated sire sensation Northern Meteor, last season’s Champion First Crop Sire in Australia.

Other top-class performers by Encosta de Lago include Alinghi, Sacred Kingdom, Racing To Win, Princess Coup, Lashed, Sirmione, and former Equus Champion 2YO Colt, Delago Deluxe. A consistently successful sire, Encosta De Lago’s offspring have earned over AUS $127 000 000 in prize money.

Dan De Lago’s female line is equally illustrious. He is out of the Danehill mare, The Golden Dane – a top-class racemare herself. The Golden Dane won four times, including the Listed STC Darby Munro Handicap, and ran second in the G1 Flight Stakes. A half-sister to two stakes winners, The Golden Dane’s granddam is a half-sister to Melbourne Cup winner Subzero. This is also the family of Golden Slipper and multiple champion sire Marscay. The latter, champion broodmare sire on four occasions, sired 14 G1 winners including such champions as Triscay, Bint Marscay and Circles of Gold.

Dan De Lago more than lived up to his illustrious bloodlines on the racetrack. He won or placed in 10 of his 15 starts, and won from 1400m-2400m, display heart and class in the process.

He scored his greatest win in the Gr2 Gold Circle Derby, when Dan accounted for such stars as Dubai World Cup runner up Lizard’s Desire, champion Aslan, and Gold Cup hero In Writing, to name but a few.
He was also second to Equus Champion and July winner Big City Life in the R1 000 000 Daily News 2000 of 2009, where Dan De Lago once again defeated Singapore Cup hero Lizard’s Desire as well as dual Gr1 winner Forest Path.

Dan’s first foals are currently being born this season – and they are attracting rave reviews.
He will stand the 2013 season for a fee of R8000 – which surely represents exceptional value!
