Klawervlei’s well performed, and blue blooded, young sire, Dan De Lago is represented by a a smart looking first crop of foals this season.
This crop includes the attractive filly – a really striking looking individual, who is a great compliment to the quality of foals her sire is producing. A nicely bred filly, she is from the same family as Australian Horse Of The Year Weekend Hussler.

Dan de Lago, who currently stands at The Alchemy, was a top-class racehorse and was one of the best horses of his generation.
The handsome colt (a AUS $480 000 yearling buy) won five races and over R600 000 in prize money, in a career where Dan De Lago regularly faced off against some of the finest horses around.
Dan’s wins included a sparkling win in the Gr2 Gold Circle Derby, where he defeated a star studded field. The second, third and fourth home in that Derby all went on to win Gr1 races, while runner up, Lizard’s Desire, stamped himself as one of the world’s top gallopers – winning the Gr1 Singapore Airline International Cup and finishing a short head second in the Gr1 Dubai World Cup.

Dan De Lago won from 1400-2400m, and was runner up to ill-fated Champion, Big City Life in the Gr1 Daily News 2000.

He is one of 100 stakes winners for former Australian Champion Sire Encosta De Lago, whose offspring include 20 individual Gr1 winners. Encosta De Lago, who has twice headed the Aus sires list, is also the sire of sensational, but ill-fated, sire Northern Meteor – whose first crop has produced five graded stakes winners, including brilliant G1 winner, Zoustar.

Dan De Lago is out of the high-class Danehill mare, The Golden Dane – a stakes winner of five, who was second in the Gr1 Flight Stakes.
This is an outstanding family, whose members include the G1 winners Eagle Falls, Subzero and Golden Slipper winner Marscay. The latter was a top stallion, who was Champion Sire in Australia in 1990-1991 and 1992-1993.
A superbly bred classic winning son of a truly great sire, Dan De Lago is an exceptional young sire prospect, who is throwing exceptional foals.
