Debut winner for Mambo In Seattle

Debut winner for Mambo In Seattle
Moutonshoek’s resident sire, Mambo In Seattle, has made a really pleasing start to his stud career.
The stallion was represented by another first crop winner when the well bred The Royal Rhumba made a winning debut at Clairwood Park on Sunday.
Bred by Highlands, the Lawrence Pillay owned The Royal Rhumba looked classy when he flew up late to win by 1.25 lengths over 1200m first time out.

Trainer Kum Naidoo rates this colt highly, and described him in a post-race interview as a “really smart colt.”

A R400 000 buy at the 2013 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale, The Royal Rumba is out of the winning Pulpit mare Temple Goddess.

Mambo In Seattle has only been represented by a handful of runners, but he has already four horses to win or finish in the money.

A son of the stallion, Motivate Mambo, has been entered in Sunday’s Listed Storm Bird Stakes, while Mambo filly, Mystic Express, is a runner in the same day’s Listed Ruffian Stakes.

Runner up in the Gr1 Travers Stakes of 2008, Mambo In Seattle is one of over 80 stakes winners for world leading sire Kingmambo.
His Grade One placed dam is a full-sister to US Horse Of The Year, and dual Champion Sire A P Indy.

An exceptionally well-bred horse, Mambo In Seattle is also a three parts brother to Lemon Drop Kid. The latter, North America’s Champion Older Male Horse in 2000, won 10 races and over $3 000 000 in prize money. His victories included the Gr1 Belmont Stakes, Gr1 Futurity Stakes and Gr1 Travers Stakes.

Now a leading sire, Lemon Drop Kid has sired over 70 stakes winners to date.

His close relative, Mambo In Seattle, is strongly represented at both the March Yearling Sale and the Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale.

Mambo has 8 lots on offer at the March Sale, including a half-brother to G2 winner and Gold Cup runner up Vertical Takeoff.

His 17 yearlings on offer at the National Sale include a half-sister to Gr3 Kenilworth Fillies Nursery winner Wheredowego, a colt out of “Sand Queen” Cinnamon Sugar, and a colt out of stakes winning Silvano mare, Tuvana Silva.
