Derby winner’s sister a highlight for National Sale
Cheveley Stud, breeders of the 2014 Gr1 Investec Cape Derby winner Legislate, are proud to offer a full-sister to their latest classic winner at the 2014 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale.
Legislate, who was also second in both the Gr2 Selangor Cup and Gr3 Cape Classic, has won or placed in six of his eight outings to date. He has earned owners, Newbury Racing (Pty) Ltd, over R700 000 in prize money, and looks a really exciting prospect for the future – whether the colt remains in South Africa or travels abroad.
Catalogued as lot 216, the bay filly is a daughter of leading sire Dynasty and the Restructure mare, Champers.
As yet unnamed the filly’s sire, former Horse Of The Year Dynasty, has been in scintillating form this season. Dynasty’s feature races during the 2013-2014 include not only Legislate, but also the likes of Blaze Of Noon (Gr3 Politician Stakes), Paddy O’Reilly (Kenilworth Cup), De Kock (Gr2 Selangor Cup) and the mighty mare Beach Beauty (winner of both the Gr1 Maine Chance Farms Paddock Stakes and Gr1 Klawervlei Majorca Stakes).
To date, Dynasty is the sire of 17 stakes winners and 10 individual Gr1 performers.
The filly on sale and Legislate are out of the Restructure mare, Champers – who won 4 races up to 1200m. To date, Champers has produced two winners – including Derby winner Legislate.
She is a full-sister to the stakes placed winner of ten, Asprey – and also numbers Gr2 Merchants winner Black Skimmer, and two other stakes performers as half-siblings.
This is a great filly family – with Champers’ dam an own sister to top filly Jungle Class (winner of the SA Fillies Sprint), while other high-class females to have emerged from the family include champion Forward Filly, as well as Fillies Guineas winner, She’s A Treat.
The Dynasty/Restructure cross represents the potent Sadler’s Wells/Danehill cross which has produced numerous champions and classic winners, most notably unbeaten legend Frankel, arguably the greatest racehorse of all time.
Interested parties are most welcome to come out to Cheveley and see the filly, and the other yearlings in the farm’s draft for the 2014 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale.
