Double for Argonaut

Double for Argonaut
Cheveley Stud’s former Equus Champion, Argonaut, has enjoyed a great run with his offspring of late.
Over the course of the past few weeks, Argonaut has been represented by no fewer than 5 winners – and had another double at Fairview on Friday.

Argonaut’s Friday double came in the form of One Track Mind, who broke his maiden over 1200m for trainer Alan Greeff, and Cinderfella, who prevailed in a driving finish to the seventh race to make it back to back wins.

One Track Mind, who is out of the Australian Supremo mare Supreme Flirt was bred by Rosedene Stud, while Cinderfella (who is out of the Fine Edge mare Toodles) was bred by Rex Stud.

Argonaut’s first crop, now three, now includes 18 winners. This tally includes the talented colt Ernie or Else – a leading contender for Sunday’s Gr3 Zimbabwe Guineas, as well as the highly rated Copybook, impressive debut winner Clear Sailing, and useful filly, Ignition Lady.

The champion’s second crop has already produced a number of promising looking juveniles. Amongst them is dual winner Amarillo Starlight (who has won two of her three outings to date), and promising colt River God, who ran fourth in the Listed Summer Juvenile Stakes on Met day.

South Africa’s Equus Champion 2YO Colt of 2007 , Argonaut is well represented on the 2014 March Yearling Sale.

His six yearlings include:

Lot 102 – a colt out of the smart mare Divine Fairy. This colt is a half-brother to the smart recent winner, Fairy Maker, while his second dam is a stakes winner of five.

Lot 129 – a filly whose dam is a full-sister to the dam of top 2yo Pure Power. Her dam is also a half-sister to G3 winner Just Like Al, and this is the family of legendary sprinter Flobayou.
