Epsom Oaks boost for local mare

Taghrooda wins the 2014 Epsom Oaks

Klawervlei Stud’s blue blooded Ebaraya received a major boost to her pedigree page, following the running of Friday’s Group1  Investec Oaks.

The Oaks, arguably the world’s greatest classic for 3yo fillies, was won by Taghrooda – from the first crop of legendary racehorse Sea The Stars. The unbeaten filly is likely to be aimed at the Irish Oaks next, and may pointed towards the Gp1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.

Taghrooda, now unbeaten in three outings, having previously landed the Listed Pretty Polly Stakes last time out, is out of a Sadler’s Wells granddaughter of Ezana.

By comparison, Ebaraya, herself by Sadler’s Wells, is out of the great broodmare Ebaziya (a daughter of Ezana). Ebaraya is an own sister to Irish Oaks winner Ebadiyla, and a half-sister to the Group 1 winners Estimate (Ascot Gold Cup), Enzeli (Ascot Gold Cup), and Edabiya (Moyglare Stud Stakes).

Without question one of the best bred mares in South Africa, Ebaraya is currently in foal to leading young sire Judpot, whose champion daughter, Along Came Polly, was recently sold to leading Kentucky farm Three Chimneys.
