Feature race treble for Champion Sire

Feature race treble for Champion Sire
Maine Chance Farms’ resident stallion, Silvano, has enjoyed a fantastic run of success with his runners over the past two weeks.
South Africa’s current reigning Champion Sire has been represented by no fewer than four feature race winners since last Sunday!

Silvano’s great trot began when Tellina (bred by Maine Chance) captured last Sunday’s Gr3 London News Stakes.
Silvano daughters Silver Holly (bred by Ascot) and Omaticaya (bred by Messrs Berzack and Joffe) landed the Listed Sun Classique Handicap and Listed Jamaica Handicap respectively – and became their sire’s 46th and 47th stakes winners respectively.

To top off this fine run, Silvano’s gallant son, Astro News (Bred by Oldlands Stud) won Sunday’s Listed Michael Roberts Handicap. Astro News, who is owned by Fred Crabbia, has now won 6 races and over R980 000 in prize money. Winner of the Gr3 Cup Trial, Astro News has also been placed in four other features, and is a fine advertisement to the soundness and class that Silvano transmits to his offspring.

Champion Sire in South Africa in 2012-2013, Silvano (the sire of 13 Grade One winners to date) could enjoy yet further success in the immediate future. His Champion son, Heavy Metal, is one of 21 horses entered in Thursday’s Gr2 Al Fahdi Fort in Dubai.
