Fifth winner for SA’s leading first crop
Maine Chance Farms’ promising young sire Lateral was represented by a fifth winner from his first South African crop of 2yos on Saturday.
The Lateral colt, Gameloft, who was bred by the Oldlands Stud, broke his maiden in convincing fashion when scoring by three parts of a length over 1400m at Greyville.
Gameloft, who was making the third start of his career, was a R60 000 buy at the 2013 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale.
Saturday’s winner was produced by the winning Captain Al mare, Windspiel.
Gameloft’s sire, Lateral has made a most promising start to his stud career, and is currently South Africa’s leading first crop sire both by winners and prize money.
To date, the son of Singspiel has been represented by nine first crop runners, who have won or been placed.
A champion at two, and champion miler at three, Lateral’s yearlings fetched up to R300 000 at the recent Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale, whilst a yearling colt by the sire made R450 000 at the 2014 Cape Premier Yearling Sale.
