Flower Alley relative stakes her claim
Sparkling Review, a close relative of exciting Cape acquisition Flower Alley, stamped herself a filly to watch when maintaining her unbeaten record on turf in Saturday’s Gr2 Mrs Revere Stakes.
A daughter of Lemon Drop Kid (himself a three parts brother to Moutonshoek’s Mambo In Seattle), Sparkling Review’s two and three quarter length victory in the 1700m Mrs Revere made it four wins from just five outings for the talented 3yo filly.
She has not lost since a fifth place finish on debut, and looks capable of competing at the very highest level.
Trained by Ben Colebrook, Sparkling Review could be aimed at either the Gr1 Matriarch Stakes or Hollywood Derby next.
Out of the stakes placed Pleasant Tap mare Pleasant Review, Sparkling Review’s third dam is the Reviewer daughter Dumfries – also the fourth dam of Grade 1 Travers Stakes winner Flower Alley.
This is the same family as legendary sire and broodmare sire Lyphard, Epsom Derby runner up Nobiliary and recent Gr1 Tenno Sho hero Spielberg.
Flower Alley, a proven sire whose offspring have earned over $15 million and include Kentucky Derby hero I’ll Have Another, is set to stand his first season at Wilgerbosdrift next year.
