Fort’s 2yos off to a flyer

Klipdrif’s promising young sire Elusive Fort can hardly have made a better start with his current crop of 2yos.
The champion son of Fort Wood has had just two juvenile runners thus far, but the pair have either won or placed, suggesting that their exciting young sire is on course for another good season.

Elusive Fort had his first juvenile season in 2015-2016 when the Favour Stud bred Elevated won a maiden juvenile plate on L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate day last Saturday.
The gelding, a good fourth first time out, made no mistakes when cantering home to beat some well bred juveniles in the Trippi Maiden Juvenile Plate over 1000m, and he has been entered for the Listed Summer Juvenile Stakes on Met day.

Another talented son of Elusive Fort, recent Listed Sophomore Sprint hero Ernie, is another with big race hopes, and currently rates seventh on the lot for the upcoming CTS $1 000 000 race on January 23rd.

Sire of the G1 winners Siren’s Call (Wilgerbosdrift SA Fillies Classic) and Lauderdale (Thekwini Stakes), the triple G1 winning Elusive Fort (SA Derby, Daily News 2000, Horse Chestnut Stakes) has two lots apiece at the Cape Premier Yearling Sale and the Val De Vie Yearling Sale.

At next week’s CPYS, Elusive Fort’s pair on offer include a full sister to the above mentioned Ernie (Lot 160), and a filly whose eight winning siblings include feature race contender Spirit Of Hamilton (Lot 179).

Next month’s Val De Vie Sale sees a pair of Elusive Fort yearlings up for sale – one a filly whose dam is a three parts sister to G2 Dingaans winner Special Squad (Lot 76) and a filly who is a three parts sister to high class black type winners Fort Petersburg and Stormy Coast (Lot 90).
