Fourth first crop winner for Elusive Fort

Fourth first crop winner for Elusive Fort
Klipdrif Stud’s exciting young sire Elusive Fort has made a superb start to his stud career.
The former Equus Champion, whose first crop are now two, has been represented by just 11 runners to date – but this tally includes six runners who have either won or finished in the money.

The latest Elusive Fort youngster to make an impression was the Mike Azzie trained Red Star, who annihilated her field to win by 6.25 lengths on Saturday.
Highly rated by her conditioner, Red Star won as she liked, under a hands and heels ride from J P Van Der Merwe. Bred by the Arc-En-Ciel Stud, Red Star (a R30 000 purchase at the 2013 Cape Premier Yearling Sale Book 2) has now won or placed in both her outings to date.

She is one of several promising first crop runners to represent her sire who is also responsible for the top-class stakes filly Elusive Stars.

Elusive Fort, who earned over R2 million on the track and captured three Grade 1 races, will be strongly represented at next month’s Emperors Palace National 2YO Sale.

His six lots on offer include a filly from the same family as this season’s brilliant 2yo Carry On Alice (Lot 264), an intriguingly bred colt from Elusive Fort’s own family (Lot 301) and a classically bred colt out of SA Oaks runner up Star Safari (Lot 475).

The former champion is one of 15 Gr1 winners for former champion sire Fort Wood, also sire of successful stallions Dynasty and Horse Chestnut.

Elusive Fort, who like international sensation Variety Club is out of a Secret Prospector mare, is a half-brother to high-class 2yo Easyjadeasy – who won the Gr3 Kenilworth Fillies Nursery.
