Horse of the Year honours for Oratorio star
Oratorio’s outstanding son, Military Attack, was named Hong Kong’s Horse of the Year at an end of season awards ceremony recently.
Not only was Military Attack named Horse of the Year, but he also picked up two further awards, in the shape of the season’s Most Popular Horse and Champion Middle Distance.
Military Attack, who has won his last five races on the trot, was an impressive winner of one of Hong Kong’s top races, the G1 Audemar Piguet Queen Elizabeth II Cup, beating a world class line up of horses.
The brilliant gelding followed that magnificent performance up with another cracking win, when landing Singapore’s top international contest – the Gr1 Singapore Airlines International Cup.
Oratorio, who is currently leading the sires list in both Italy and Singapore, will stand for a first year fee of R80 000.
The Avontuur Thoroughbred Estate resident is already fully booked, and is expected to cover a high-class book of mares this season.
To date, Oratorio has sired 36 stakes winners, and the earners of over $24 000 000. His progeny include no fewer than six individual Gr1 winners, and Oratorio is truly a world class addition to the South African stallion ranks.
