Impressive win for Duke filly
Drakenstein Stud’s new stallion Duke Of Marmalade has a number of really nice looking British trained 2yos to his credit this season.
The latest Duke Of Marmalade sired juvenile to impress was the John Gosden trained Star Of Seville.
Making just her second start, the filly hacked up to break her maiden by six lengths at Newbury on Friday.
Her jockey William Buick raved about Star Of Seville post race, and feels she is something to look forward to next year.
The filly has been given a 16-1 quote by Paddy Power, for the 2015 Investec Oaks.
Star Of Seville’s scintillating victory comes hot on the heels of another impressive Duke Of Marmalade juvenile. Pamona won as she liked over 1400m at Newmarket last Wednesday, and is another filly connections are keen on for next year.
With these, and other promising juveniles in the wings, Duke Of Marmalade’s connections would appear to have plenty to look forward to in 2015.
Sire of no fewer than eight Group/Graded stakes winners in 2014, the five time winning Group 1 winner Duke Of Marmalade is also a half brother to another 2015 potential classic prospect – Giovanni Canaletto (who won by six and a half lengths at Leopardstown on Sunday) , as well as the recently retired Investec Derby winner Ruler Of The World.
